Texas holdem rules for determining hand rank include using the best five cards of seven possible. Note that Jokers and wild cards are not used in holdem. So there is no possibility of a five of a kind which ranks as the highest possible hand in other poker games.
Highest to lowest holdem hand rank.
Royal Flush
The top five ranking cards in order, of the same suit.
A-K-Q-J-10 of the same suit.
Straight Flush
Any five cards in ranking order of the same suit.
6-7-8-9-10 of the same suit.
Four of a Kind
Four cards of equal rank with any fifth card.
A-A-A-A-K
Full House
Three cards of equal rank plus two cards also of equal rank.
A-A-A-K-K
Flush
Any five card of the same suit.
A-K-2-5-Q of the same suit.
Straight Any five cards in order by rank.
5-6-7-8-9
Three of a kind
Any three cards of the same rank with any other two cards.
A-A-A-5-2
Two pair
Two cards of the same rank plus two more cards of the same rank with any fifth card.
A-A-K-K-J
One pair
Any two cards of the same rank with any three other cards.
A-A-2-3-8
High card
Any five cards with no pair, straight, or flush.
A-5-6-2-3 beats K-5-6-2-3
Note that if two players or more have the same ranked hand the highest card in each player's hand will determine the winner, known as a "kicker". It is also common in holdem is for two or more players to have the exact same holdem hand rank. Which would result in a tie and dividing the winnings equally.
