Texas Holdem Poker Rules for Showdowns

Texas holdem poker rules relating to the showdown process may seem a bit complex if you're a new player. Be patient and relax. I have seen players throw away winning hands during showdown on accident over the years. Be safe while you learn texas holdem and show your hand once all betting is concluded. And let the cards speak for themselves.

During the showdown process the best five card hand will be determined by using either one or both hole cards in combination with the five community cards. Two or more players may tie having equally ranked hands.

Players can also use the five community cards as their best hand for a tie. But only if they still have hole cards. Both hole cards must be laid face up on the table in order to qualify for a winning or tied hand. Typically the dealer will have the final ruling in determining the winner or winners.

Texas hold em poker rules for the process, are players will turn up their cards in a clockwise order starting with the player that made the last bet or raise. If no bets were made on the final betting round the small blind will be first. Then continuing clockwise around as players show any hand that is superior.

At an online poker room this is an automatic process. At a land based card room this is typically not how a showdown unfolds. Some people do not like to show a losing hand. This is why the order exists. Someone has to show first right? There is no rule against showing or folding a hand though at any time during the showdown and this speeds up the process.

Texas holdem poker rules that vary in land based card rooms, are that any player at the table may request to see any player's hand during a showdown. The other is that only a player who was in the hand until the showdown has the right to request a hand be shown. Some may not allow any player's hand to be shown involuntarily.
